SPARE: The Legacy of Prince Harry’s Childhood Trauma
Why it affects us all …. (including YOU!)
Prince Harry is not alone; over 64% of adults have at least 1 Adverse Childhood Experience (ACE), an indicator of mental health struggles, and more.
Despite his privilege, Harry evidently has a pretty high ACE score.
This scoring system is used to measure the degree of chronic stress and trauma accrued in early childhood, to help clients who are seeking therapeutic support to gain a better understanding of the correlation between these ‘Adverse Childhood Experiences’ and why, as an adult, they may be encountering challenges with their emotional, mental, physical, relational, or sexual health.
Harry’s approximate ACE score of 4, accumulated as 1 point for each of the following: parental divorce, death of his mother, Diana, family members not feeling close or emotionally supportive, and living with a family member (his mother) suffering depression, mental health issues or feeling suicidal, makes him a classic case of undiagnosed C-PTSD (Complex Post Traumatic Stress Disorder), as demonstrated by his former use of promiscuity and substances as coping mechanisms, suppressed emotions, and his own self-reported struggles with anxiety and depression.
